Asbestos_Encapsulant 2810 is a water-based, one-pack, temporary which provides easy peel for radioactive decontamination, medical laboratory decontamination or chemical decontamination.
Asbestos Encapsulation coating traps and encapsulates a wide spectrum of residues in easy to apply, no requirement for pre-preparation process allowing easy and safe disposal without the use of water. When dry, the product locks the contaminants into a polymer matrix. The film containing the encapsulated contamination can then be peeled and disposed.
General Chemical is a worldwide supplier of decontamination coating to reduce and clean up hazardous residues from chemical spills. Proven coatings and cleaners are innovative, economical and easy-to-use. They are environment friendly, safe to apply and easy to dispose. Our products will work in your laboratory safe practice , Decontamination and Re-utilization projects.

Encapsulation techniques of asbestos abatement seal off materials containing asbestos behind a barrier of some sort. One common method for performing asbestos encapsulation uses various coatings to cover asbestos materials. Encapsulation is often used to cover non-friable materials which may be subject to weathering or use, such as asbestos-laced concrete.
Here is a quick step by step run down of the encapsulation process.
Unlike most painting projects, surface preparation for asbestos encapsulation is limited to removing mold, lichen or other growths. No attempt is made to sand or roughen the surface in preparation for the primer coat. Doing so would release asbestos fibers, and create a health hazard. After any mold and lichen have been removed, an initial Asbestos_encapsulant is applied to the surface
The Asbestos_encapsulant, if properly applied will decrease the likelihood of the material degrading or deteriorating and releasing harmful asbestos fibers into the air. Once the Asbestos_encapsulant has thoroughly dried to protect the Asbestos_encapsulant from weathering effects. For interior locations, gypsum wallboard may be applied over the encapsulated surface.
Asbestos abatement procedures must be done by properly licensed professionals. If your paint and coating contractors do not have the required training and certification, they should be able to put you in touch with professional asbestos abatement company.
Health & Safety: The compound is non-toxic and non-flammable in the wet state. The dry film waste may be disposed of as low hazard. Please see separate Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)
Storage – Store at temperatures between 5°C – 25°C. DO NOT ALLOW LIQUID TO FREEZE.
Removal and curing-
Asbestos Encapsulation_2810 is removed by peeling. Simply, pry a piece of coating in one corner and lift.
Flammability: Water Resistant Asbestos Encapsulation_Chemiclean_5900 presents no fire hazard as received, during, or after application.
Patch Test: Because it is difficult to determine the type of substrate so perform a small test first. This will determine Asbestos_Encapsulant 2810 effectiveness, coverage, and the approximate amount of time required for it to work.
Packaging: Asbestos_Encapsulant 2810 is available in 1 gallon, 5 gallon, 55 gallon & 110 gal/220 gal disposable tote tanks. Totes feature an inner bladder that collapses as product is dispensed, ensuring that all products are usable over the life of the container in service. Also available in different colors for additional costs.
